CEDAR HOT TUB Q & A

What access do I need to take delivery?

What can I use to treat the exterior of my tub?

How much does it cost to run my hot tub?

Hot tubs are 1.1 metres high so they can be lifted in sideways through a gap no smaller than this. An extra pair of hands is required as the tubs are quite heavy.

However if you don’t have the minimum access then we can also build the tub in your garden, allowing us to bring the materials through any residential home. Please contact us to find out more about this service.

A simple tub takes approx 6 hours to build from scratch in the garden. A more complex tub takes about 14 hours.

Hot tubs can be left untreated and will naturally go grey with time. However

treat it (the exterior only) with oil such as Danish oil and it will remain looking

young for a very long time. The best treatment is Owatrol Textrol.

Hot tub staves (side pieces) are individually machined to a high standard with a

profile that mean they all lock into one another. The tightened stainless steel

bands force them to close the gaps. The tubs always leak for a few days after

first filling. This is normal. The cedar swells in time to accommodate this.

Small leaks may develop owing to the movement of timber and silicon

dislodging. These leaks usually cure themselves after a few days.

How do I ensure the water is kept clean?

Each hot tub has a plug in the base, enabling you to empty it whenever you need

to. This will depend on how often the tub is used and if chemicals such as

Hydrogen Peroxide are used. If you are running a natural tub with no added

chemicals (not possible with electric heating) we suggest emptying the tub

every 1-2 weeks. We advise against using massage oil, suntan creams etc

whilst enjoying the tub. Hydrogen Peroxide (35%) can be used in the tub

once per week. This is a very safe chemical, that kills bacteria and viruses in

your tub without odours or harmful side effects. Available from us for £45 for 5

litres + delivery

The hot tub requires an outdoor socket for every electrical item.

Tubs with electric heating require a 16 Amp supply and 2 outdoor sockets.

Ideally one of the sockets should have a built in timer.

Heater draws 13 Amps and requires 1 outdoor socket

Filter draws 5 Amps and requires 1 outdoor socket with built in analogue timer

Lights draw 0.1 Amp and require 1 outdoor socket

Jets draw 13 Amps and require 1 outdoor socket

An electric heated tub with jets and lights requires a 20 Amp supply to four

outdoor sockets

All work should be carried out by a qualified electrician
